Harris Academy are refurbishing all 3 blocks at their site in Southwark, inclusive of the Victorian Block, Tower and Music Blocks. The Victorian Block consists of 5 floors, The Tower has 9 floors whilst the Music Block has 3 floors.

Trescray’s scope was to supply and install a new high performance structured cabling system and Security package.

The Structured Cabling solution constituted 2500 Cat 6 outlets across the 3 Blocks with the main communications room sited within the Victorian Block. Within all Blocks satellite communications rooms are links backed via fibre optical cabling for a complete Voice over IP network.

The Security package consisted of internal and external CCTV cameras, intruder alarms and door access control.

The CCTV System consisted of a site wide surveillance system comprising of internal and external cameras. A total of 41 internal vandal resistant colour dome cameras were installed in corridors, stairwells and common areas throughout the three buildings. Thirteen external cameras were installed, eight of which were fully functional dome cameras, and five are fixed day/night cameras. Two external fixed cameras were installed on 4.5m static columns, with cables routed through ducting in the ground. Two 32 channel digital video recorders control the system, with 26 cameras linked to the recorder in the Victorian Block, and 28 cameras linked to the recorder in the Tower Block. Both recorders are linked to display images at the central monitoring station PC in the reception of the Tower Block.

The Access Control system comprises of a number of on-line and off-line doors, which are networked to provide a fully operational access control system without the need to hard wire every door. All readers utilise proximity technology and individually programmed proximity cards are used to travel around the site.

A Redcare monitored Intruder Detection System was also installed, comprising of 41 PIR detectors, 41 door contacts, 3 personal attack buttons, 3 remote keypads, internal and external sounders.

In addition a colour video Door Entry System was installed at the main entrance gate for pedestrians and vehicles, and at the main entrance to the Tower block. The panels supplied were vandal resistant stainless steel.
